You are the distinguished people among the society. I am saluting you. You have donated more than 800000 units of blood in the last 15 years. There’s a database of almost 2.84 lac donors. This is certainly a huge achievement. You donated blood to 30 thousand people free and 47,000 people with a minimum payment. I agree that, those who have the ability to pay the minimum cost shouldn’t be given blood for free. Free should only be for poor people who can’t afford it. Through the Quantum Voluntary Blood Donation Pro...

I Salute the Donors of this Society

Image
Md. Sirajul Haque Khan Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Today’s program was hosted for those who donated blood selflessly. I don’t have the ability to honor you for the work you did. But I am thankful that I could meet you all. Giving out advices is very easy but in most cases you’ll see that the advisor doesn’t practice the advice he gave out himself. But the one who has been advised has to follow it. Hence, my advices may seem unnecessary to a lot of you. I donated blood three times. But I am still in a big debt. In 1983, I was admitted to a Chest Disease Hospital due to complications of bronchitis. At this time, my body bled the most of my blood. Blood had to be transfused in me. But due to a mismatch, the body started to react. Then the voluntary blood donors came forward to help. Therefore, today I say that the blood currently in my body is not mine. I was healed by getting blood...

I Do Not Worry If I’d Get Blood

Image
Dr. Shahla Khatun   National Professor All of you who are present here are voluntary donors. I cannot compare your with anything. All of you are children of our golden country! I am very happy to be here to meet you. And I have been given the opportunity to get acquainted with the Quantum Foundation , so I thank them. As you all know, I'm a doctor. When I started my education, Dhaka Medical College was the only medical college in the country. I can’t even explain how difficult it was for us to find blood donors back then. When I was in my third year of undergrad, our professor suddenly decided that there would be a heart operation and all of our batch should be there. We were 18 students. We went to the operation theater . Everyone was very enthusiastic to see the operation. All of a sudden the patient began to bleed a lot and we only had one bottle of blood. Back then blood was bottled unlike now, where special packaging is done. The patient needed more ...

Our Population is Our strength

Image
Mohammad Ismail Chairman, Bangladesh Agriculture Bank We often call Bangladesh a small and poor country. But on what context: population, area or poverty? We stand 8 th globally in population. There are still 7 more countries that beat us. And in the geographical area Bangladesh is 93 rd . There are still more than one hundred countries. Our country's GDP is very high now. Then how are we poor a country! I think this is a completely wrong idea. If we can remove this misconception from our mind, then we’ll be able to see that we are doing well in every aspect of the society and a mentality to donate will be created. We can help our country and foreign countries as well. We have such power. We still have to get charity from foreign countries. We can also give charity if we want. Because it does not require you a lot of money but a big heart in order to donate. If the ones, who are blessed with the ability to give zakat, pay two and a half percent of thei...
